Can I Go Into Starvation Mode If I'm Not Starving?

I eat less calories than the minimum amount (700-900) and i was told by my mom it doesnt matter as long as im not hungry cuz my stomach shrunk and got used to little amounts of food but i was also told even though im full i will still go into starvation mode. Which is write?
