Do you tell your kids about the starving children all over the world?

I tell my son (3) when he's being wasteful that he can finish whatever it is because many children aren't lucky enough to have good food to eat and have to go hungry. He's a bit young for the full explanation at this stage, but I will tell him more as he gets older. I think it makes them realize a bit how lucky they really are.
