The status thing as you said was just to make her "ex bf phew away" and she did say she wanted to take thinks SLOW. From the way I see it, she just wants to date. So my advice would be just to date. Don't bring up the relationship thing because it doesn't sound like the two of you are "officially" boyfriend and girlfriend.
