Calorie question....?

I'm trying to lose weight so this morning I made an egg white omlettele and had hundred calorie soup for lunch. This is about 300 calories. I feel like this is way too little - but what do I eat? I don't want my body to go into starvation mode and store fat if I'm not eating enough. What do I eat and how many calories? I need to lose 45 pounds.
