How can I make my party less awkward?

i had a semi big 16th birthday party. there was about 30 or 40 people there, even though that's more than 15 people, the place was big, and i had a dance party, and wanted it to be non-awkward as much as possible. One thing i did that really made the party a lot better was i turned the music loud. even if ur parents wont let u turn it up all the way, turn it up a lot. i also got a lot of lights,like a strobe light or disco ball. also have a lot of snacks and drinks. and get some fun pool games u can suggest.
