How do I tell this guy I like him?

I don't think it's the best way to say it. First start a casual conversation with him. Say something along the lines of "Where's your girlfriend?" If he says "She didn't come" or something inferring that he as a girlfriend, sorry. But if he says "Oh, I don't have one", then you can tell him that you really like him. Be honest with him.
